Trimble / Avoid the Hidden Dangers of Inaccurate & Incomplete Project Information / 10 The benefits of scanning help you throughout the course of construction. You can continue to use the 3D laser scanner to collect data throughout the project. And doing so has many advantages. When you're continually collecting 3D data, you're creating a record of all work performed. This can come in handy should you need to defend your work or resolve a dispute. It can also be used to track and measure productivity so you can see the gains you're making. You also end up with complete documentation that can be used to produce new as-builts when the work is done. These as-builts provide you and the owner with an invaluable map to refer back to for ongoing maintenance and repairs, as well as future renovations still on the horizon. You can use a 3D laser scanner to: Capture daily conditions or concerns to share with the office, owner, and other teams Compare the model or drawings to the work that's been completed to discover any mistakes or issues early in the project Document work to provide a record should you need it Track and report on progress and project milestones Create as-built documentation as you go to inform facility management, maintenance and future projects . . . and Clears the Way for Smooth Sailing The benefits of 3D laser scanning don't end here.
