Revolutionizing ATL's terminal expansion with innovative construction technologies

Holder Construction Group successfully supported the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Concourse D widening project, including 10 new international gates, while minimizing terminal shutdowns. They modified their original plan, built the concourse in pieces off-site and transported them at night, never shutting down more than eight gates at a time.

"You’re lifting up 1.4 million pounds, driving it a mile and a half across runways and taxiways and setting it in place, it’s just another day at the office," said Chief Field Engineer Josh McShane of Holder Construction. "We have to know we’re right before we have to be right. Using a scanner, I’m checking my columns, I’m looking at every piece of steel. Using the scanner, I’m checking so much more than I ever was before. It’s a very unique project, it’s very innovative, setting the standard for how things will be done in the future."

Leveraging the latest geospatial and reality capture technology, Holder's approach saved the airport billions of dollars in potential lost revenue and significantly reduced passenger inconvenience. Watch the video to learn more and experience the benefits of working with new technologies.
