Trimble / Avoid the Hidden Dangers of Inaccurate & Incomplete Project Information / 03 From new construction projects to renovations, you need to be aware of the dangers you may encounter to prepare for what's ahead. Whether you're a general contractor or a specialty subcontractor, you'll want to steer clear of these risks. New Construction When embarking on a new construction project, you need accurate and complete data about site conditions. This data is critical to the design process since the models that will be used to guide construction are ultimately only as good as the data they're built upon. Your ability to produce constructible models helps you successfully plan, coordinate, schedule, and budget the work required. Without them, you're more likely to experience miscommunications, delays, and other risks along the way. You're also at greater risk of design clashes, which if not caught early in the process, can lead to costly rework, RFIs, and change orders. Be Aware of Potential Dangers That Lie Ahead When you lack complete and accurate project data to create constructible models, you may be at risk of threats to your schedule and budget like: Inaccurate or incomplete designs Greater potential for clashes Increased rework, RFIs, and change orders + what are constructible models? Constructible models contain the data and accuracy needed for actual construction. When your models are constructible, you can increase efficiency and productivity by: • Planning with more predictability • Streamlining workflows • Improving collaboration • Taking greater advantage of prefabrication, off-site fabrication, and other time and cost-saving measures To learn more about the advantages of constructible models, read the article.
