When projects involve renovations or retrofitting, the potential pitfalls are even greater. Because many existing structures, especially older or historic buildings, lack original or current documentation, estimating, planning, and construction become a risky proposition. You also need to know the location, condition, and capacity of current systems, as well as if the structure can comply with current codes and requirements.
